Walleyes and Crappie Biting Hot on Yellowstone Lake

I decided to go to Yellowstone Lake State Park the other day to try my luck Crappie fishing. They did hit, but not until dusk, although the Amish people there were catching them all day. However, I did manage to catch a couple of walleyes.

First flathead of the year at Aztalan state park

Had a surprise first flathead of the year at Aztalan State Park. I've never caught a flathead there before. The water was about 2 feet higher than usual so I guess some of them were hanging out there. Unfortunately, I ran out of bait before sunset so I was not able to fish into the night.

Crappies Bite is Hot right now

I have been looking for good panfish for a while now around the Madison Area and I think I finally got some at Goose lake in fitchburg. Only two eater size but many were biting!

Multi-species catch on the Crawfish River!

Finally had a decent outing. The white bass kept on getting off the hook so I had to switch to a long shank barbless hook in order to finally land one but there were a lot of them around for sure!

Spring Carp fishing on the Sugar River

After weeks of catching nothing, I decided it was finally time to catch --- something. So I went to the Sugar River at Belleville. While it may not have a great variety, there is an abundance of carps there.

Bass action in Wisconsin getting hot!

First session of Wisconsin Bass fishing today at confluence pond. Went with worms and lures. Got 2 bass and a big green sunfish. Not the high tide of bass season to be sure, but they are active and biting.

Blue Catfish on the Missouri

After two weeks of trying to catch Catfish and mostly failing, I finally bagged a respectable fish on the Missouri. Fishing under Boone's Bridge at night, I finally got myself a 12.5lb blue catfish.

First Big Catfish Ever on the Meramec River!

I've fished the Meramec River alot in the last few years but I've never caught anything over 1 pound in terms of catfish. Today, I finally caught a 10 pounder over at George Winter park after dark, making the trip worthwhile.

New Winter Carp Spot Near St. Louis

After striking out on several spots in the St. Louis Area this Winter, I finally went to Winfield Lock and Dam at the end of January. Cold as it was, there were still carp biting in the channel that empties out into the river and it seems to be pretty consistent in the winter.

Big Winter Fish on the Meramec

I went to the only place that I know with fish at this time of the year, the lower Meramec. Its the deepest part of the river in that area and fish tend to gather in the slow, deep, water when the weather is cold. I managed to get 4 buffalos in two days but nothing else. But it was still fun to catch fish after so long.
