I went to a inlet in Lake Monona to fish for panfish. Wish I had panfish plastics on me but I only had worms. Redworms would have worked better but I still managed to catch a bunch of bluegills in the lagoon.
Decided to go for some early spring fishing at Belleville Dam and see what was there. Using 3inch swimbaits and bottom baits, I managed 5 species and even some nice trout. The smallmouth seem to be starting to hit as well.
So I fished off the Monona Terrace wall in an attempt to catch some early season crappies while the crowd was fishing over in the triangles. I failed to get any crappie but I did bag a big walleye even though it was out of season and I had to release it.
Went for some walleye on the Rock River at Jefferson Dam. The run has started but its still mostly small males as of right now. I think you'd have better luck at Fort Atkinson or Blackhawk island right now but the dam is still good.
Went Carp fishing as usual the place I do every spring at Belleville. Trying to catch the 20 pound monster that people keep telling me is there but ultimately only catching 2-5lb fish above the dam.
After failing at ice fishing for a week, I went to the Beaver dam river to fish for pike and buffalos. Although I did not get any pike, the buffalo were hitting. Mostly snagging but there were a few bites as well.
We had a really Warm week so I went fishing on the Sugar River near Belleville hoping to catch a big fish of death. But the fish of death weren't biting. The carp and suckers, however, were biting hard. Had some fun fights and caught a bunch of fish in a small amount of time.
I went to Lake Wingra to ice fish. The fish in Wingra are smaller but more numerous. I was also hoping to catch a couple more species in Wingra as well. Still caught a bunch a small bluegills and a few small perch.
As I am back in Madison, I went to the outer bay or the Monona Triangles to Ice Fish. The bite was still hot on certain holes but the ice was over a foot thick and took a long while to drill holes.
On the way back from Texas, I stopped in popular Bluff, MO to fish for some big fish and although the water was freezing and I failed to catch a giant, I still managed 5 fish in the frigid water.
