Nikon D5

Nikon D850

Sony A7R III

Now that the Sony A7R III has been announced and the Nikon D850 has been out for a while, its time to ask: are the A9 and D5 Line of Cameras just too expensive? Yes, they are faster and have deeper buffers but take a huge hit in terms of resolution. Is it worth the trade off?

Tony and Chelsea North's comparison video: Here

So, after seeing this initial video, I was surprised that the Sony didn't take the cake in High ISO like I thought it would. When I get the A7RIII in here to test, I will definately test this against my D750 and I expect the Sony to come ahead but the high ISO comparison did not turn out as I expected.

We will look at Video, Portraiture, Landscape, Astrophotography, Sports, Wildlife, and Macrophotography.

Sony has announced the 400mm f/2.8 telephoto lens. This is hopefully the start of shoring up Sony lackluster choices in the telephoto department. However, a $10,000+ lens is not going to be affordable to most of us mere mortals.

Nikon 200-500 f 5.6 Lens Review

Nikon 200-500mm lens

Today I will do a review on the Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 Lens. I shot several sports and wildlife photos with this lens and at $1400, I have to say it is very good quality for its price. Although not quite the same as the f/4 500mm prime or the f/4 600mm prime, it is much lighter and at 5 lbs, very usable hand-held unlike its bigger cousins.

Is DxOMark still relevant for today's cameras?

DxOMark is a objective mark of how a Camera sensor performs in terms of Dynamic Range, portrait color depth and high ISO performance. But is it still relevant in today's camera world.

Other options for small versatile cameras:

    Sony Rx10 IV

    Olympus M10 Mark III

Today we look at the Light L16 Camera. A weird camera that has 16 lenses and 16 sensors to go with it. While the technology is intriguing, it seems that the image quality, especially for the zoom lenses is not that great. Even though zoomed out, you get 52 Megapixels, when zoomed in at 150mm, you get 13mp. I think I would rather go with compact mirrorless if I really want small.
