Sukkur Barrage is one of Pakistan’s most important irrigation structures, built across the Indus River in Sindh. Completed in 1932 during British rule, it is considered an engineering marvel and plays a vital role in agriculture by supplying water to millions of acres of farmland through an extensive canal system. The barrage has 66 gates and helps control water flow for irrigation and flood management. It supports the economy of Sindh by improving crop production, especially wheat, rice, and cotton. Besides its economic importance, Sukkur Barrage is also a famous landmark and tourist attraction due to its historical and architectural significance.
