I have not been to the spillway at Stoughton in years but this time I decided to fish the spillway and the river downstream since they re-did the park. The spillway had some good bluegill and carp but the river downstream was full of Smallmouth.
Went to Governor Nelson State Park to fish and it was weeds everywhere! Things were ok until the wind started blowing. Once the wind started howling though, the grass got all over the line. I managed to get fish, but it took forever to reel the lines in.
I went to Warner Park at Lake Mendota to see if the channel cats in the lake were done with spawn since they started towards the last week of June. It seemed that most of them have indeed finished spawning as the bite was good.
After failing at fishing for a giant bass at Cadiz springs, I decided to go to nearby skinner creek on the Pecatonica in order to grab a big catfish. The catfish were still spanwing unfortunately but there were other big fish in the creek to fish for.
I went to Albany above the dam to fish because of the numerous suckers and carp there. There are pike and bass there as well so I bought chubs, worms, and corn to see what I could get.
I decided to go to a small spillway on the Rubicon River to try to catch bowfin, carp, buffalo, pike, and bass but it ended up being that I mainly just caught a lot of catfish. Looks like the channel catfish spawn on the small rivers is over and they are hungry!
I went to Lake Wingra for a few days to try and catch a 5lb bass. I ultimately did not get a bass that big but I did land several good bass and a few good sized crappie to boot in the creek. I also found that the creek has big shiners.
I went to the Baraboo again to try to catching a river monster. The day started off really slow with nothing really biting. But after dark, I got a huge hit on my bluegill which resulted in the biggest fish I've caught on the Baraboo.
I went to Merrimac Memorial Park to fish for Crappie and Big Catfish but the pier had a non-stop smallmouth bite. I caught tons of smallmouth, a walleye, a bluegill, and a big 1.75lb White bass.
I went to Brodhead to fish the lower sugar river in hopes of catching a big flathead. The stretch I like to fish is only 2 feet or less deep but it has a lot of brush piles and can hide really big fish. Didn't catch flathead but did catch many channels.
