I went to a new small Spillway on the Rubicon River to try my luck. Lots of different species were there and I caught 7 or 8 different species of fish. A lot of small Bowfin there but also a good amount of buffalo and carp. Had a great time.
I decided to go to Lake Sinissippi this weekend and fish the channel there. I knew there were some catfish there but was hesitant at first because Catfish were in spawn. I brought some corn to catch carp as well. Ended up throwing curly tailed grub for Buffalos and catching a bunch of them
I went the Sauk city two days in a row. Some of the big Channel Catfish were biting. I got one each night. Fish were blowing up everywhere in the flooded sections of the river but I couldn't get them to bite on anything so I couldn't confirm what they were.
I returned to Warner to see if the Catfish had arrived yet from North Bay and they had not yet arrived but the fish were as active as ever as Smallmouth Bass were swarming in Warner Bay during the day. Things really died down at night though.
I decided to stay in town and fish Warner breakwall. I only had worms and did not have time to go get cut bait but I still caught several fish. It looked like the smallmouth were biting very well and the drum were very active at night. Still no big Catfish though.
I went to fish the lower dam at Watertown at night hoping for a huge flathead. I did catch a 30 pounder there last year so hopes were high but I ended up being kind o disappointed in the end only catching 3 channels and 2 freshwater drum. It was still pretty fun though.
I went to the Crawfish River at Aztalan State Park to see if I could catch a big fish. The Walleye population has soared the last few years which seems to effect the rest of the fish. Catfish and even Freshwater Drum levels seem to be down. I still managed to get a few good ones though.
I went to Richland Center to Fish the Pine River. I fished this once before when it was flooded and could get anything so I was hoping this time it would be better. There seemed to be a lot of walleye in the Millpond area but they kept biting and wouldn't hook. In the end, I only got 4 suckers.
I decided to go fish at the Sugar River Race in Brodhead. I had to move to the Dam before I caught any fish at all and I only caught one. But the one I did catch was pretty big, one of the bigger ones I've caught on the race.
Went to goose lake again hoping to catch some bass and crappie. I got a lot of crappies but the lake is highly overpopulated so they don't grow very big. A lot of 5 inchers in the lake. They need some predators to cull the population.
