Vienna, Austria. The Belvedere is a baroque palace complex featuring two palaces connected by formal gardens, viewed from above in a black and white hand-drawn illustration. The Upper Belvedere sits at the center of a long, symmetrical terraced garden with geometric parterres, ornate pathways, and sculpted hedges that cascade down toward the Lower Belvedere and the city beyond. The surrounding urban landscape of Vienna spreads outward in all directions, with dense tree canopies, historic rooftops, and modern high-rises visible on the horizon. The entire ensemble, designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in the early 18th century as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, appears on the Austrian 20-cent euro coin and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Centre of Vienna.
