Rotterdam, Netherlands. An aerial view of the Koninginnebrug, a large green double-leaf bascule bridge spanning a wide river. Muted green metal dominates the structure, contrasting with the grey-brown water and surrounding dense cityscape. Modern skyscrapers rise in the background, with lower-rise buildings along the riverbanks. The scene has an urban, industrial atmosphere under bright but overcast daylight. Designed by architect Albert Hendrik van Rood and opened in 1929, the bridge features counterweights of 800 tons in each leaf.

Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Willemsbrug cable-stayed bridge with distinctive red steel pylons and the historic De Hef vertical-lift railway bridge span the Nieuwe Maas river in a sweeping aerial hyperlapse. The Willemsbrug, opened in 1981, carries road traffic with bold red towers rising above the water, while nearby De Hef stands as a preserved industrial monument with green steel framework locked in a raised position. De Hef was the first vertical-lift bridge of this kind in Western Europe when completed in 1927, and has been a protected Rijksmonument since decommissioning in 1993. The flight path reveals the dense urban fabric of Rotterdam, with waterfront parks, historic harbor channels, and the modern skyline emerging in the distance under bright summer daylight.
