Went to Ludden Lake over this weekend and fished the spillway for two afternoons. Things started off slow with just a few sunfish and small bass, but then we pulled up some big fish from the dam wall.
I went in search of 1lb+ bluegills the last few days but the best I could come up with was a little over .5lbs. Although I did not find the XL bluegills, I did find two great locations for Eater Size Bluegills.
I went to the Fox River and Oshkosh for the weekend chasing tales of Legendary Catfish. However, there was a rainstorm the day before and it looks like the Catfish weren't biting very well. Although I skunked for Catfish, I did manage to catch a good amount of smallies instead.
Went to Marshall, Wisconsin the last two days and fished the river, the spillway, and the Millpond. There were Carp and Catfish and even Bass. However, the bass were small as the bigger fish, I would guess, were most likely in deeper water due to the heat.
Went to Leland Spillway over the weekend and because it was a very deep pool coming off of a creek with cool water, I thought Trout would be there. However, there were no trout or Smallmouth Bass. I did, however, get a bite from a big fish.
Some people tie leaders when fishing for Carp and others don't bother saying that the fish don't care which line you use. Who is right and who is wrong? I did a 2-day experiment with Carp to find out.
I went fishing in Janesville at Riverside Park and Traxler park and while I was trying to catch some carp, ended up catching a lot of Catfish instead. It was a good few days though, caught decent cats and ended with a Bluegill at Lion's Beach.
Took a trip to Madison's South Side and visited three parks to fish. The first park was the best as it had both Bullheads and Sunfish, the others only had small sunfish, unless you were targeting frogs.
For the last 2 days, I went to Crystal lake and Fish lake. The Lakes are terribly flooded and most people have fled. I fished for Carp, Catfish, and Bass and got 2 out of the 3, although the Bass were really small. I did hook a decent Catfish but did not succeed in landing him.
For 2-3 hours a day for 4 days, I went to the Sugar River to catch some fish. The water level was extremely low so fishing below the dam was pretty pointless and only Carp were really biting above, so I had a really fun time bagging me some carp.
