Spanish conquistidor who brought much of Mexico under Spanish control. Cortes was a part of the generation of colonizers who started the hostile-takeover of the Americas from its native population. He was directly responsible for the fall of the Aztec Empire. He successfully allied with the enemies of the Aztecs to bring about their fall. He also had a son with a native women. Despite having conquered the Aztec empire, he did not recieve the title of viceroy and died in spain in 1541, a peaceful but bitter man.
