I love me some fishing and I had to get a good start to the season so I went to Tenney Lagoon where I knew there were plenty of small fish just waiting to be caught. To my surprise, this time it was small bass and no the usual panfish. Still, this did not stop a legendary fisherman for catching his fish.
Devil's lake is one of the best hiking spots in the state. It features scenic viewpoints, a lot of ups and downs for exercise, beaches, canoes, and lots of wildlife. It is one of Wisconsin's most complete state park out there. The loop around the lake is part of the ice-age trail and takes a few hours to finish, but is great for a morning or afternoon hike.
DJI has lost a court case on patent infringement and may be kicked out of the USA by July. This would be a huge blow and could reset the USA drone industry as DJI is the 900LB gorilla in the field. However, this patent almost looks like it would prevent most drone makers from competing with the company(also Chinese) that brought up the lawsuit as the generic design is one that most, if not all, drones follow.
I love biking and since I got a GoPro 5 and all the mounts, I decided to make a video about the short 22 mile ride around Lake Mendota including many of the neighborhoods, parks, and other places to see around the trail. You can check them all out in this video:
An online Camera store in Australia has listed the Canon R5 for $6000, about $2500 more expensive than I would have pegged it. I expected it to clock in at $3500 because it is the successor to the 5D series. Pricing it up near the 1DX series, I think, would be a mistake.
Sony has leaked that their fixed lens camera to be announced would be the vlogging camera the ZV1 and not the RX10 V that I was looking forward to. This has me sad because I don't really need a vlogging camera as there are already plenty of those out there. There will be a flippy screen and a better microphone built in but if I had the RX100 VII, I would not be rushing to buy this camera.
The panasonic GH6 may be the refreshing breath of fresh air that MFT fans have been hoping for. After being stuck in the 20mp realm for ages, the GH6 will come with a 41mp camera with the ability to shoot 4k and 6k and possibly 8k. This is great news for the MFT crowd.
Nikon, after a month of delays is set to ship the D6 at the end of May. Although the D6 is only an incremental upgrade over the D5, it has been several years since the D5 release and the D6 will be a welcomed edition and possibly the last DSLR Nikon will make.
Still in Lockdown mode for a few weeks, so I went to Pikes Peak State Park just across the border in Iowa. Pikes Peak has expansive overviews of Mississippi River and Prairie Du Chien on the opposite side. It also features Indian Mounds and Bridal Veil falls.
Fuji has announced that they will not trash the XH line of Cameras but will continue to make them. The issue is that there is not enough seperating them from the XT line of cameras and they cost more. IBIS is standard in most mirrorless cameras now and Fuji can't afford not to include it so where does that leave the XH line?
