On my way back from Big Bend, I decided to continue my goal of getting to the highest point in each of the 50 states. I therefore, visited Mount Magazine State Park to check Arkansas off the list. I arrived in late afternoon so the view was pretty good, especially this of the fading sun:

The next few days at Big Bend were all spent hiking the wonderful Chisos Mountains, mostly on the Emory Peak trail and the Lost Mine peak trail. The top of Emory was great:

Of course there is an elevation marker at the tip:

Finally on the texas trip I arrived at Big Bend National Park, a remote national park on the border of Texas and Mexico that is 4 hours for any major city. No major highway runs close to the park so its about a 90 minute drive to reach the interstate from here. This is beautiful desert wilderness with mountains. (...)

Went to visit Natural Bridge Caverns just out of San Antonio on my trip. Its the largest open cave system in the state of texas. There were two tours and I went onto both. The cave is bigger than most I've been in and some of the rooms were absolutely huge. Its a pretty neat place to visit with lots of structures like these:

A visit into the Houston area just would not be complete without a Visit to the NASA Johnson station where the control rooms for the US space program are. Inside were many models of spacemen:

I finally have good wi-fi and post the rest of the Texas Trip. After Houston and Galveston, San Antonio was the next stop. San Antonio's city is th 2nd biggest in the state but its Metro Area is far smaller than Houston or Dallas. The town has an old and historic feel to it. No visit to San Antonio is complete without remembering the Alamo:

Today I drove about an hour and a half from Houston to Galveston and visited Galveston Island State Park . The beaches are not nearly as good as the ones in Florida, but there were still some good photos to be taken.

Walking Around in Houston

Walked around downtown Houston today. I couldn't get a picture from an observation deck because the J.P. Morgan building was closed since it was a weekend but downtown houston is full of parks and a Bayou runs right through it. I did some editing and this picture came out ok.

Into Dallas

Spent a day in Dallas and it was disappointing for pictures, but not because the city is not good for photos, but because it was so foggy, you could not see anything. All pictures of the city looked like this:
