In the frozen depths of the winter, I went to visit High Cliff State Park while Lake Winnebago was still frozen in the snow. My hands pretty much froze right when I took them out of my pockets, but I still manged to get some good sunset photos. So many people out ice fishing on the lake right now with trucks, the ice is probably over 18 inches thick at high cliff.
Aztalan State Park was one of the last ones in Wiscosnin that I haven't photographed, mainly because it was such a small park known for more its ATV'ing than anything else. But it actually has Mounds built by ancient civilization. Makes for good winter scenery.
I will visit again in the summer once its open since the museum is (...)
Today I took some of the day to go to Governor Nelson State Park. It was one of the nicer winter days for photography and I get some good pictures of the ice and snow on the lake. Lake is frozen right now and you can walk on it. In the summer, the fields are pretty nice at Governor Nelson.
Decided to visit Holy Hill on Saturday this week. A little different from my usual nature places. This one is a large Cathedral that is located on a Hill. It is great with autumn colors but I went in the frozen wintertime. Here is a picture of the main Basilica:
It is a place to visit. I will come back in the fall of this year.
In the depth of the freezing winter, I decided to go to the nature conservatory at Baxter's Hollow. It's a great birding place in the spring and summer months but right now I didn't see too much wildlife since everything is frozen solid. The frozen winter does provide for some nice landscapes though.
I drove about 45 minutes north to Danville Millpond to take photos of the crawfish river and the winter Mill there. Its not as good as Hyde's Mill for photography because you can't get as close and you can't really see the Mill from the front as a lot of the surrounding area is private land, however, you can still see the overall lanscape.
Its been freezing lately but today I caught a break today and went to Hyde Mill in Hyde Wisconsin. The mill was pretty scenic:
Its definately a place you want to visit if your around the Ridgeway area on the way from Madison to Dodgeville. You can't actually go in the (...)
After a few days, I went into another spot in Mark Twain National Forest at Dillard Mill . Its an old mill from the 1870s that was rebuilt later after a fire and became a historic site in the 1970s. The waterfalls around the mill and the landscape make for great photography.
Still working on using the ND filter with longer exposures to get (...)
Since I'm in Missouri, I visited Ozark National Scenic Riverways and Montauk State Park. Although winter, there were still plenty of people fishing in the park. I mainly went for night time shots but I got a (...)
Usually most of the beautiful photos in Wisconsin come from the Northern Part of the State such as Door County or the area around Bayfield or perhaps near the National Forests up North. All the major waterfalls in Wisconsin also reside in the North as well. However, Southern Wisconsin does Harbor many places where great photography of Nature can be taken (...)
